The agreement between us
Terms
Last updated 19 September 2026
Setter Books is run by NSG LLC, Minnesota, USA. By making an account or ordering a book you agree to these terms. They are written to be read.
Who can use it
You must be 18 or older. One person, one account; keep your sign-in to yourself.
What you upload
- Only upload photos and details you have the right to use. For photos of a child, you must be the child's parent or guardian or have their permission. For photos of any other person, you must have that person's permission.
- No unlawful, sexual, hateful or violent material, and nothing that infringes someone else's copyright or trademark (for example, characters from films or other books).
- You keep ownership of everything you upload. You give us permission to use it only to make, print and deliver your book.
How the books are made
The stories and pictures are generated with AI from what you give us. We work hard to keep characters consistent and the writing good, but AI output varies, and a likeness is an illustration, not a photograph. That is why every book starts with a free proof: read it, change the words, repaint what you like, and only order if you are happy with it.
Your book is yours
Once you have paid, the finished book is yours to keep, print and share for personal, non-commercial use. Because the pictures are AI-generated, copyright law in your country may limit how far they can be protected. You may not resell our service or use it to mass-produce books for sale without our written agreement.
Proofs
A proof is free and includes the whole story, the cover and the first 2 painted spreads, with watermarked, reduced pictures. An unpaid proof stays open for 14 days after its last edit. Nothing is lost after that; ordering brings it back. We limit how many proofs an account can start so the service stays available to everyone.
Orders and payment
- Prices are shown before you pay. Shipping is charged at what the printer charges us, rounded to the dollar. Taxes or import duties, if any, are your responsibility.
- For a printed book, your card is authorised at checkout and only charged once the printer has accepted the book for printing. If the printer cannot take the job, the hold is released and you pay nothing.
- Payment is handled by Stripe. Printing and delivery are handled by Lulu. Delivery dates are estimates from the printer and carrier, not guarantees.
Cancellations, reprints and refunds
- Each book is printed specially for you, so once it has gone to print it cannot be cancelled or returned simply because you changed your mind.
- If your book arrives damaged, misprinted or defective, write to us within 30 days with a photo and we will reprint it free or refund you, whichever you prefer.
- If a parcel is lost in transit, we will reprint and resend it.
- A PDF order can be refunded within 14 days if the files cannot be delivered; once you have downloaded the files it is final.
- Nothing here limits rights you have under consumer law where you live.
Fair use of the service
Do not try to break, overload, scrape or get around the limits of the service, or use it to make books you do not intend to order in order to extract free artwork. We may suspend an account that does.
If something goes wrong
We provide the service as it is and will always try to put a problem right. To the extent the law allows, our total liability for any order is limited to what you paid for it, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses. Some places do not allow these limits, in which case they apply only as far as the law permits.
The law that applies
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Minnesota, USA, without affecting any consumer protections you are entitled to where you live.
Privacy, changes and contact
How we handle your information is set out on the privacy page. If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will email account holders first. Questions: hello@setterbooks.com.
